OPENING OF THE JUBILEE BUILDING
Badock Hall celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 2014-15 academic year. Just prior to this, the then Director of Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS), Neil Sapsworth, agreed to provide additional communal space to the Hall (for use of Badock and neighbouring residents). This took the form of the return of what was then known as the Old Library Building, which had previously been occupied for many years by the Conference Office, to Badock. In recognition of the 50th anniversary, the building was renamed as the Jubilee Building. It was opened by the Chancellor of the University, The Right Honourable the Baroness Hale of Richmond, on 12th December 2014. This was done by unveiling the plaque during the annual Christmas Formal Dinner. The plaque was subsequently installed in the foyer of the Jubilee Building.

Following a suggestion by the Deputy Warden, Charles Gunter, the new communal rooms are named after past wardens:

-
The Pennington Study Room (after Arthur Pennington, Warden 1963-1974)
-
The Marsh Study Room (Alan Marsh, Warden, 1973-1984)
-
The Evans Studio Theatre (Mrs Francoise Evans, Warden 2002-2014)
-
The Berkeley Fitness Suite, comprising a small gym (Dr Roger Berkeley, Warden 1984-2002)

The updates and refurbishments were contributed by RHS. In addition, the Alumni Foundation generously sponsored the new black-out curtains and stage lighting equipment (almost £5,500) for the Evans Studio Theatre.
